San Francisco Trip

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

So this is a little late in coming but in July we went to San Francisco! This was a big deal for us because it is the first trip we've taken in nearly ten years. What??? I know!! But with a child and being a single mom it's so hard sometimes so we never got around to vacationing.

And of course I've always wanted to go see San Francisco so it was at the top of our list. We flew out early in the morning and got there around 8 a.m. so we would have a full day. We didn't want to waste any time.

We started out on Pier 39 and it was freezing. But we had a blast anyway. A few sea lions were there already, despite their migration so we got that experience also.

Boudin Bakery and their "Breadimals" was a must. I don't think they call them breadimals there but that's just a missed opportunity. Obviously.

Alcatraz from the top deck of the Ferry.

Alcatraz Island

We took the Ferry to Alcatraz and toured the prison with their audio tour. It was incredible. The tour was on our phones so we synced them together and walked through the prison guided by some of the prisoners and guards that worked there.

Of course my favorite part was the Winchester Mystery House. We took the train to San Jose for the day and rose electric scooters to the house. Seriously I've been wanting to go there since I was thirteen and saw it on ghost hunters. Life long dreams in the making here. Honestly, what isn't to love about this house? Ghosts, seances, staircases to nowhere, windows inside and of course the damage from the earthquake in 1906. Its beautiful and I would go back in a heartbeat.

We walked through china town and practically got accosted by a woman trying to sell me a jade ring that was four sizes too big for me. We narrowly escaped. And of course we found this strange dog statue in a window that reminded us of my dog. If you know, you know. They have the same blank expression lol.

The Painted Ladies!

That wind though lol

We walked....I mean climbed all of the hills to get to Lombard street, the crookedest street in the world. Then we climbed that too. This is the view from the top. I barely made it there but the view was completely worth it!

And at the end of the week we flew home to the Phoenix airport. Did you know that it's the friendliest airport in the world? I didn't until they announced it multiple times while we were waiting for our flight. Good information to know.

What a fantastic trip we had! I loved every minute of it!

What was the last trip you had? Tell me in the comments!
